Saturday 10th December 3pm. Human Rights Day. GADRC Berowra Electorate group Picnic. Hornsby Park (in front of the swimming pool) Hornsby, 5 minutes walk from Hornsby Station.
Local members of Grandmothers Against Detention of Refugee Children will host a Family Picnic in Hornsby Park to celebrate Human Rights Day.
They invite other concerned community members to join them to support the Refugee Council of Australia’s Family Reunion Campaign. http://www.refugeecouncil.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/RCOA-Report-Family-Reunion-11-16-WEB.pdf
The Grandmothers plan to bring picnic rugs, food and drinks and members of their own families. They will have a few fun activities to keep grandkids happy and help them make posters about the importance of families and keeping refugee families together. Come along to celebrate this occasion with us – bring your rug and picnic to be part of this special event.
Photos will be taken for inclusion in the Refugee Council of Australia website & facebook page. Ditto for GADRC NSW website & Facebook.
It would be great if grandmothers in other areas could organise similar events. Don't forget the Refugee Council's request for photos of family gatherings for the family reunion campaign. Use the hashtags #FairGoForFamilies and/or #BetterTogether. For help with this, contact Gael or Gaby.
